Allen Gene Riley, 77, of Morristown, passed away Sunday morning, October 1, 2017 at Life Care Health Center in Morristown after a lingering illness. Allen Gene, as he was fondly known, was a quiet and patient guy. He attended Morristown College and served four years in the U.S. Navy. Following his Navy life he worked in maintenance in the Norfolk shipyard, and later in San Diego, California. He returned home and married a girl he had known in school, Sylvia Arnett, whom he called "Dear" for 54 years. Allen was a dedicated member of Tabernacle Baptist Church where he served as a faithful and committed deacon for 30 years until his health began to fail. He was employed by the City of Morristown Recreation Department. He was preceded in death by his mother Kathrine Riley; three brothers John Evans, Roy Paul and Waylon Riley. He leaves to cherish his memory a loving and devoted wife of 54 years Sylvia Riley; sister Dorothy Treece; brother Joseph (Darlene) Riley; sisters-in-law Georgia kyle of Whitesburg, Phyllis Blevins of Morristown and Darlene (Larry) McCrae of Belaire, Maryland; brothers-in-law Dale (Deborah) Arnett of Kingsport, Robert (Missi) Arnett of Knoxville; mother-in-law Beatrice Arnett of Greeneville; and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and Church family.
