Franklin Eugene Horton

Franklin Eugene Horton, 71, passed away Friday, February 9, 2018 in Decatur, Georgia. He was born on May 5, 1946 in Jefferson City. He was known as “Frankie,” and attended Nelson Merry High School where he played basketball for the Lions. Frankie was the salutatorian of the graduating class of 1963. He joined Martha Davis Baptist Church at an early age. Frankie was a brick mason and worked with his father and other brick masons building houses. After college he worked in Atlanta, but most of his life was spent in Jefferson City a community he loved. He was preceded in death by his parents Franklin, Sr. And Vantilene “Tiny” Horton; sons Kelly, Franklin, Jr. “Buster”; brother Willard Wayne; sister Brenda. He is survived by his children; sons Darrell “Booper” and Preston; daughters Wilhelmina “Meme” and Tameika Fain of Atlanta; devoted cousin Paulette “Tena” Dockery of Atlanta; several grandchildren that he loved dearly; several nieces and nephews, first cousins and a host of other family and friends; special friend Henry “Jam” Williams and special mentor Carl Mills. He will be truly missed by all who knew him. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 17th at Dockery-Senter Funeral Home with funeral services to follow. Interment will follow the service at Westview Cemetery in Jefferson City. The Rev. Nathaniel L. Wilson will give the eulogy.
