George Richmond, 73, passed away unexpectedly at Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare System on Monday, February 10, 2020.

He was born August 7, 1946, in Lynch, Kentucky but came to Morristown with his parents as a child at the age of ten. After high school, he served honorably in the U.S. Army. George worked at Phipps Bend (TVA) for many years, then became self-employed with construction and painting residential and commercial businesses. George served as President and member of “The Ebony Outdoorsmen Social Club” for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Paralee Richmond, siblings, Bettye Jo Richmond Webster and Charles Edward Richmond, step-son, Kevin Bragg, niece, LaRochelle Still and nephew, Samuel Webster, Jr. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Cynthia ‘Janie’ Richmond of 21 years; son, Maurice Rucker; daughter, Gail Richmond; stepson, Michael (Vicki) Bragg; sister, Dorothy Holness; several grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and special friends.

The family will receive friends from Noon until 1 p.m. at Dockery-Senter Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., with Pastor William Butler Sr. officiating.

Interment will be in Hamblen Memory Gardens.

We are sending a our love, prayers, and condolences to the family. George was like an Uncle to us. He was such a kind/respectful man and had the most beautiful smile. We will always love our George.
