Josephine Goins Houston died on Saturday, October 19, 2019 in Morristown at 93 years old. The graduate of Morristown College was active in the community where she volunteered for more than 17 years, contributing thousands of hours to the Daily Bread Soup Kitchen. Houston was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church, and one of the joys of her life was the time she spent supporting Dr. E.G. Lynch and his family. She was preceded in death by her mother, Jeanette Cox of Morristown; her father, Joseph Cox, Sr. of Morristown and husband Claude L. Houston of Morristown. She is survived by her daughters Janice Jackson and Claudine Jackson; grandchildren: Lisa Jackson Prewitt of Atlanta, Georgia; Lorene Jackson, and Polly (Ronnie) Johnson of Knoxville, Tennessee; great-grandchildren; Cassidy and Cameron Johnson and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends: including Janie Mae Coleman of Morristown; Dr. Alpha Alexander of Morristown; Wallace Coleman of Cleveland, Ohio; Carl (Caresteen) Bowman of Columbus, Ohio; Becky (Al) Wilker of Knoxville; and Leonard (Ashley) Sparks Jr. of Indianapolis, Indiana. Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, October 23 at Dockery Senter Funeral Home, with the Receiving of Friends held prior, from 2 to 3 p.m. at the funeral home.
