Robert Henry Jenkins

Robert Henry Jenkins sunset Tuesday, October 22, 2019. He was a graduate of Morristown College High School and Knoxville College. He played a very active role in Reunion of the Ages, and photography was his favorite hobby. He retired from the Hamblen County School System in 2007. He found joy in spending time with his kids and grandkids during the holidays, with Christmas being his favorite. He was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Flemings; father, Robert Jenkins; brother, James Jenkins; and brother, William Douglas Scott. He is survived by daughters, Teresa Stewart of Nashville, Margaret Jenkins of Smyrna, Georgia, and Carla (David) Dalton of Morristown; his son, Robert Leon Jenkins of Morristown; two nephews and one niece, Cecil Jenkins of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Gene and Junior of Washington, DC; a host of grandkids, great-grandkids, and cousins; and a very special lady in his life for decades, Linda McDermott. The family will receive friends 1 – 2 p.m., October 26 at Dockery-Senter Funeral Home with the funeral services to follow at 2 p.m. Burial will follow funeral service at Hamblen Memory Gardens.

I am so sad to hear of Robert's death. He was my co-worker for many years, but most of all he was my dear friend. We had times to laugh together and times to be sad together. I have never met a kinder man. My prayers are with Linda and all his family.

Sending my thoughts and prayers to the Jenkins family. I never met Mr. Jenkins, but I know Margo loved her dad. She always traveled back to TN to visit him and would often ask me to bake a cake for his birthdays.

Mr. Jenkins was one of the best teachers in Morristown. I would run into to him around town, and he remembered me by name every time. I technically wasn't a student of his. RIP Mr. Jenkins
