Margaret Bowman Rucker

Margaret Bowman Rucker, beloved mother, grandmother, sister and educator, passed away on April 8, 2024, in Morristown, Tennessee, at the age of 93. She was born on October 1, 1931, in

Morristown, Tennessee, to the late Ernest and Alice Bowman.

Margaret was a graduate of Tennessee State in Nashville, Tennessee. Her degree was in education. She fulfilled her childhood dream of becoming an elementary teacher.

Margaret, known for her warm smile and sweet spirit, touched the hearts of everyone around her. She was a dedicated teacher at Judson S Hill School and Hillcrest School, leaving a lasting impact on her students.

She is survived by her son, Adrian (Teresa), grandson Charles (Dakota), granddaughters Abrianna and Alexis Rucker, as well as her siblings Dorothy McDowell, Ken Rucker and Debra Sue Rucker and special niece Gloria Jackson; brother-in-law Curtis Rucker, sister-in- laws Helen Buis and Lennie Jackson. was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Rucker, and other family members.

In her free time, Margaret enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and baking. She was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church, where she found solace and community.

Family and friends will be received on Monday, April 15, 2024 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm with funeral following at Mt. Olive Baptist Church to honor and remember Margaret's life and legacy. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. In lieu of flowers and gifts, donations can be made to Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Morristown, Tennessee . Mrs. Rucker taught me to read, write and think. Even after I earned a graduate degree at a prestigious university, she would see me and softly say with a warm smile, "Do you still enjoy reading?" I always felt so very special in her presence, due to the fact that her concern for me and interest in me stretched back several decades but never dimmed. I will miss her but I will also cherish the positive impact that she had on my life. Rest well, Mrs. Rucker. Thank you for pouring your talents, gifts and bottomless kindness into my life.

Mrs. Rucker was my first grade teacher at Hillcrest Elementary. She was the kindest, most patient teacher I ever met. Every day when it was time for the bell to ring she sat in a chair by the classroom door and hugged every child on their way out for the day. I loved her so much!

Mrs. Rucker was my first grade teacher at Hillcrest Elementary. She was the kindest, most patient teacher I ever met. Every day when it was time for the bell to ring she sat in a chair by the classroom door and hugged every child on their way out for the day. I loved her so much!
