Hildred Jean “Jeanie” Porter

by DFH Inc. on 04/23/21

Hildred Jean “Jeanie” Porter departed this life and gained her heavenly wings on April 19, 2021 surrounded by her family in Morristown. She was born on July 12, 1947 in Morristown, Tennessee to Joseph Porter and Pearl Garrett Porter.

Jeanie dedicated her life to service, devoting her love to the many that she encountered. She was a Certified Nursing Assistant and served as a housekeeper and caretaker for many years, even devoting her life to care for her mother Pearl Porter. Even through her relocation to Charlotte, North Carolina in 2006, she continued to serve and care for others.

She was a watch-care member of Abundant Life Church under the leadership of Pastor James H. Goins, Sr. Above all, she loved the Lord and reflected her devotion through her love for others.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister-in-law: Tammy Porter; and nephew: Joseph Porter, Jr.

She leaves to cherish her memories her two greatest treasures, her children: Ulinda “Puddin” Fugate and Maurice (partner Ginger Harrell) Young; lifetime partner, Robert Young; siblings: Mary Ruth Cox Isom, Joseph “Bubbie” Porter, and devoted sister & brother-in-law, Carolyn (Ernest) Bewley; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends too numerous to name.

When I think back on times we spent... talking, laughing, our quiet winks when we both knew we understood the thoughts we left unspoken. I know my heart will always hold the warmth of love she showed me. I knew her as my friend...”Mom”.
